Viral Caramel Date Apple
colorfulsuperfoodie
When you want a caramel apple but don't want to spend all day in the kitchen and dealing with messy caramel, this is the way to go! Soft chewy Medjool dates are an excellent caramel replacement because they already have a caramel like flavor that pairs so well with the apples and chocolate. I definitely recommend giving this viral caramel date apple recipe a try!

Cuisine American
- 3 small/medium apples
- 25-30 Medjool dates
- 1 1/4 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- 1/2 cup toasted almond or another nut
Carefully slice and pit all of the dates.
Take about 10 dates and flatten them out and line them up in a square shape over some plastic wrap. Place some parchment paper over top of the dates and then use a rolling pin to flatten them out more.
Take the parchment paper off of the dates carefully and then wrap the dates around 1 of the apples and squeeze around with the plastic wrap to avoid the dates sticking to your hands. You may need to shift the dates a little to cover most of the apple(repeat this method with the other 2 apples).
Melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil either in a double boiler on the stove or in the microwave in 30-second increments until it's fully melted.
Add the chocolate to a deep enough bowl to dip the apples. Place a skewer in the top of the apples and then dip the caramel date apples into the melted chocolate, coating them completely.
Place the apples on a parchment paper lined plate. Sprinkle some toasted almonds in top of the apples and then let them set completely.
Carefully use a sharp knife to slice the caramel date apples into slices or just eat right off the skewer and enjoy!
Make sure to use room temperature dates to get the best gooey texture for sticking to the apples.
You may need to press really hard on the dates around the apple to cover it completely and move some pieces around a little.
