Healthier Pumpkin Spice Latte

There’s nothing wrong with being that person who loves drinking their Pumpkin Spice Latte while wearing the cozy cute fall clothes and boots! I am definitely one of those girls and proud of it because my latte recipe is a lot healthier than what you would buy in a coffee shop. This recipe contain healthy fats and collagen peptides to support well being and sustained energy. This healthier pumpkin spice latte recipe is also a lot lower in sugar than your typical latte so no afternoon sugar crash!

Why you will love this recipe

  • It’s way lower in sugar than your average coffee shop latte. Did you know Starbuck’s Grande has a whopping 50 grams of sugar?!
  • It’s got simple real food ingredients and contains actual pumpkin instead of any artificial flavors.
  • It contains added protein from collagen peptides which supports hair, skin, nail, and joint health.
  • It’s dairy and refined sugar free which makes it’s friendly for many dietary preferences.

What you will need

Coffee – I use an organic coffee by the brand Lifeboost to avoid mold and pesticide exposer. You can use whatever coffee brand you prefer though.

Collagen Peptides – I always add collagen peptides to my lattes for extra protein and to also support my gut, joints, hair skin, and nails! Collagen is one of the basic building blocks in our bodies and the amino acids from the collagen are utilized in many functions. We produce less of it as we age, so it can be very beneficial to supplement it in your diet.

Pumpkin Puree – Yes we use real pumpkin in this latte! Most lattes you get from a coffee shop are made with artificial flavors and don’t actually have real pumpkin or spices in them. Pumpkin contains fiber, antioxidants, and immune supporting properties.

Nut Milk – I love using a combination of full fat coconut milk and almond milk in my lattes. 2 brands of almond milk that I highly recommend are Three Trees and Malk. These brands don’t contain any gums or fillers which can be beneficial for those with a compromised gut.

Maple Syrup – I use some maple syrup in the creamer for this latte because it gives it a nice fall note of flavor with the pumpkin spice. If you want a low or no sugar version use some monk fruit or stevia to sweeten instead.

Pumpkin Spice – You can’t have a pumpkin spice latte without this ingredient!

Vanilla Extract – Adding vanilla extract to your lattes is a game changer! It adds a sweet note along with the other ingredients.

How to make the healthier pumpkin spice latte

  • Add your coffee of choice to your coffee maker and start brewing.
  • While the coffee is brewing, warm up your nut milk, pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, and vanilla extract in a small sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Stir it often to keep the milk from burning. Take the pan off the stove when it starts to bubble slightly.
  • In 2 mugs, and a scoop of collagen peptides and divide your coffee evenly between them. Use a hand frother to mix in the collagen.
  • Using a milk frother, froth up the pumpkin spice creamer and pour evenly between the 2 mugs.
  • Top with some more pumpkin spice to garnish and enjoy!
