Raspberry Red Velvet Smoothie

Red Velvet is definitely one of my favorite flavors so I decided to make a healthy nutrient dense smoothie inspired by it. This Raspberry Red Velvet Smoothie definitely hits the flavor notes and is very satisfying! It is balanced with protein, fiber, and healthy fats! The red color is from raspberries and beetroot powder which are very rich in antioxidants and supports health in many ways! Healthy smoothies definitely don’t have to be boring!

What you will need

Frozen Raspberries – I love raspberries and they provide fiber, antioxidants, and essential vitamins!

Frozen Strawberries – Even though this smoothie is raspberry focused I like to mix them with some strawberries for a nice berry flavor

Beet Powder – Beets have been shown to support a healthy cardiovascular system, healthy blood pressure levels, and healthy blood sugar levels. This is what gives the smoothie a rich red color and adds a nice flavor that pairs well with the rest of the ingredients.

Frozen Cauliflower Rice – Trust me when I say you can’t even taste it in this smoothie! Cauliflower is a great veggies to sneak into smoothie and makes the smoothie nice and creamy.

Dairy Free Yogurt – This makes the smoothie so creamy and supports gut health!

Cacao Powder – This superfood is rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, and essential minerals like manganese, potassium, iron, and magnesium. It has also been shown to support a happy mood! I mean what’s not to love about chocolate!

Dates – This is what is used to sweeten the smoothie. I like to use medjool dates! If you don’t have any dates on hand, you can use bananas or some honey to sweeten.

Chocolate Protein Powder – I like to use a chocolate bone broth protein powder, but you can use a plant based one as well!

Coconut Milk – You can substitute with almond milk or another milk alternative of you preference.

Cacao Nibs – This is a fun toping to add to the smoothie for a crunch factor.

Tips on making the raspberry red velvet smoothie

  1. To make the smoothie very creamy it is important to blend the smoothie for 2 minutes or more to get that fluffy consistency. Adding the protein powder really helps whip up the smoothie with the milk.
  2. To make sure the dates blend up well, soak them in hot water for a few minutes to soften them up. That will help them break down more easily in the blender.
  3. Add your powder in the blender first, then add the rest of the ingredients on top. This will help make sure the powder blend up with everything instead of flying up on the sides and lid of the blender.
  4. don’t wait too long after making the smoothie to enjoy it! As the smoothie becomes more warm, the texture changes and becomes less airy and fluffy.
