Sugar Cookie Matcha Latte

My go to morning drink has always been matcha, and I always feel so great after drinking it! I am sensitive to caffeine, so matcha works great for me because it also has L-theanine in it, which gives a calming effect. It is also packed with antioxidants! This Sugar Cookie Matcha Latte has been on repeat this month, and I had to share it because if you’re a matcha lover, I know you will enjoy it too. It has such a fun festive flavor and the whip cream and festive sprinkles are non negotiable!

Why you will love this recipe

  • It has a smooth flavor and not grassy or bitter like some matcha can be.
  • It really captures the classic sugar cookie flavors in drink form!
  • The vibrant green color from the premium grade matcha makes this latte look so beautiful and festive.
  • It’s a healthier latte option that is much lower in caffeine and sugar and wont give you that afternoon crash. Instead it provides more slow released energy support while also tasting delicious!
  • It’s packed with healthy fats, antioxidants, and can have added protein if preferred by adding collagen or a vanilla protein powder.

What you will need

Matcha Powder – I love using high quality matcha the is cerimonial grade. One of my favorite brands is Matcha Nude. (You can use my code “SUPERFOODIE10” to get 10% off.)

Hot Water – For matcha the temperature of the water can make all the difference with the flavor! You will want to heat up the water to around 175-180 degrees F. You don’t want the water at boiling point or it can burn the matcha and it will taste more bitter.

Almond Milk – My favorite brand is Three Trees, and their pistachio almond milk is the best!

Coconut Milk – You will want to use the full fat coconut milk from the can becasue its so creamy!

Maple Syrup – This is what I like to use to sweeten the matcha latte, but you can also use a few monk fruit drops for a low sugar option.

Vanilla Extract – This adds a delicious flavor and gives it more of a sweet cookie taste.

Almond Extract – This is key for really getting that sugar cookie flavor.

Butter – You can use grass fed or vegan butter. A lot of sugar cookie lattes use a utter extract, but I find it easier to use actual butter.

Dairy Free Whip Cream – This is optional but makes the latte more fun!

Festive Sprinkles – I love to add some festive sprinkles to this latte because it brings so much joy! I use natural sprinkles that have no artificial dyes.

How to make the sugar cookie matcha latte

First, In a bowl, sift the matcha powder and then add the hot water. Use a bamboo whisk or hand frother to froth up the matcha.(Make sure to not use boiling water but water preferably 175-180 degrees. If you use too hot of water the matcha may become more bitter.)

Next, In a milk frother or small sauce pan on the stove, add the almond pistachio milk, coconut milk, maple syrup or monk fruit, vanilla extract, almond extract, and butter. Prese the warm froth button on your milk frother(or if warming up in a sauce pan heat over medium, but don’t let it boil. Then froth up using a hand frother.)

Then, add the matcha tea to a festive mug of choice and then pour over the sugar cookie frothed milk mixture. Top with the whip cream and festive sprinkles for a little extra festive flare and enjoy!
