Berry Citrus Immunity Tea
No matter what time of year it is, immune support is always essential! This berry citrus immunity tea is the perfect hot drink to soothe your throat, warm you up, and give your immune system a little boost! It is rich in antioxidants, and vitamin C from powerful superfoods. This tea is definitely a hug in a cup and highly recommend giving it a try!

What you will need
Orange Slices – This fruit is packed with vitamins and minerals. It is especially rich in vitamin C which is an important factor for immune health.
Lemon Slices – Lemons are also rich in flavonoids and vitamin C. One lemon can offer about half your recommended daily value of vitamin C. They have antibacterial and antifungal properties as well!
Blueberries – This berry is truly a superfood! It is one of the highest antioxidant containing fruits. It is specifically rich in the of antioxidants called anthocyanins which support immune health and help fight against free radicals in the body.
Ginger – This plant has a bit of a spicy kick to it but is very powerful when it comes to health! It has antibacterial properties that help keep the bad germs away. It is also excellent for bloat issues, digestive health and nausea.
Cinnamon – This spice especially the Ceylon variety, contains anti-inflammatory properties, supports blood sugar balance, supports a healthy mouth microbiome, and more!
Elderberries – This small but powerful berry has been used to support health for centuries. It is well know to help boost the immune system, help reduce inflammation, and may help alleviate cold and flu symptoms.
Hibiscus – This beautiful flower is full of nutrients! Enjoying it in tea form can help support liver health, healthy blood pressure levels, and help fight off free radicals.
Orange Juice – We will use juice of half an orange to give the tea even more flavor.
Manuka Honey – This honey is specific to New Zealand bees that pollinate the Manuka bushes that grow there. Manuka honey is contains high amounts of a compound called methylglyoxal which gives the honey it’s antibacterial properties. It is a great honey to use for extra immune support and healing.
Hot Water – For this tea we will want to brew water that is not at boiling point because of the water is too hot, it will kill some of the nutrients in the tea. I opt for water that is around 190 degrees F.

How to make the berry citrus immunity tea
Wash the citrus and ginger well. Slice the orange, lemon, and ginger and add to a tea pot along with the blueberries, cinnamon stick, elderberries, hibiscus, and orange juice.
Heat up some water, but don’t let it get to a boiling temperature(I use a water kettle where you can adjust the temperature, and I heat to about 190 degrees).
Pour the water into the tea pot and let the tea steep for about 7-10 minutes. In a tea cup or mug, add 1 tsp Manuka honey and an orange slice. Pour the tea into your cup or mug and enjoy!
Notes: You can steep the ingredients 2-3 times with it still having lots of flavor. If you want the tea less bitter, remove the seeds and peels from the citrus.(I like keeping the peels because that’s where a lot of nutrients are.)
