You can’t go wrong with these cute little treats. Definitely make a batch for Valentine’s Day to share!

Why you will love this recipe

  • It’s so easy to make and only requires a few healthier for you ingredients.
  • The raspberry jam filling is refined sugar free and is naturally sweetened by the fruit and a little maple syrup.
  • These chocolates hearts are so adorable and are perfect to share as a gift or to make for a Valentine’s/Galantine’s day party.

What you will need

Raspberries – You can use fresh or frozen raspberries for the chia jam! Raspberries are my favorite berry because they pair so well with chocolate! They are also high in fiber and antioxidants, and low in sugar which makes them better for blood sugar balance.

Maple Syrup – I like to sweeten the jam with some 100% pure maple syrup. You can sweeten with honey as well or for a low sugar option use some monk fruit.

Chia Seeds – These little seeds are so cool and are known to form a fun gel coating when soaked in liquids! They are perfect for making jam because they hold everything together like a thick jam consistency. Chia seeds are an excellent source of fiber and omega 3 fatty acids!

Filtered Water – A little water is needed to make the chia jam!

Chocolate Chips – I prefer to use dairy free dark chocolate chips that are stevia sweetened for a low sugar alternative. You can substitute with milk chocolate as well if you’d prefer!

Freeze Dried Raspberries – Adding some crushed freeze dried raspberries on top of the chocolate hearts adds a pretty flare to them! These are optional and you can also use festive sprinkles!

Small Heart Shaped Silicone Molds – I used this one linked here.

How to make the raspberry chia jam filled chocolate hearts

First, make the chia jam by adding the raspberries, maple syrup, chia seeds, and filtered water in a small sauce pan on the stove over medium heat. When the jam mixture starts to bubble, turn the heat down to low medium and let it summer for about 10 minutes to thicken while stirring often.

Take the raspberry chia jam off the stove and let it cool down for a few minutes. Using a sandwich bag with a corner cut off, pour the jam in and squeeze into small silicone heart molds. Place molds in the freezer for 30 mins.

Next, melt the chocolate and then take the heart molds out of the freezer. Take the jam out of the molds and dip each heart in the chocolate coating evenly. Place the hearts on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Once the chocolate solidifies, drizzle more chocolate on top of the hearts and sprinkle some freeze dried raspberries(optional.) They look so pretty this way! Store in the fridge and enjoy with friend’s, your sweetheart, or just have them all to yourself!
