Citrus Ginger Turmeric Wellness Shots

Say goodbye to store bought wellness shots and know that you can make your own at home for a fraction of the cost! I’ve always enjoyed taking wellness shots for an extra boost, and these magical Citrus Ginger Turmeric Wellness Shots are packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties! They also help aid in digestion as well as support a healthy immune system.

What you will need

Turmeric – This is an excellent food source that has anti-inflammatory properties. It is also high in antioxidants.

Ginger – This is another food this has anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants. It is great when combined with turmeric for a powerhouse of nutrients. Ginger also helps aid in digestion as well as helps alleviate nausea.

Lemons – This citrus fruit is rich in vitamin C and can help alkalize the body. It supports detoxification and can help stimulate and flush the liver.

Oranges – This citrus fruit is also high in vitamin C which supports immune function. Oranges are also rich in carotenoids like beta-cryptoxanthin which the body converts to vitamin A to support retina health.

Coconut Water – I love using coconut water as the base for these wellness shots because it provides essential minerals and electrolytes which help keep the body hydrated. My favorite coconut water is by Harmless Harvest which uses sustainable practices .

Filtered Water – We will use a little bit of filtered water as the base with the coconut water.

Honey – This natural sweetener contains antiviral and antibacterial properties which supports immune health function.

Himalayan Salt – I like to add a touch of Himalayan salt to provide more mineral content.

How to make the citrus ginger turmeric wellness shots

First, carefully cut the lemons and oranges in halves, then cut the peels off and slice the ginger and turmeric into pieces. Then add the lemons, oranges, ginger, turmeric, coconut water, filtered water, honey, and salt to a blender.

Next, blend on high for at least 2 minutes or until there are no chunks. Use a fine strainer and pour the juice mixture into a pitcher or large container. You will need to pour the mixture in parts so you can use a large spoon to press as much juice through leaving the pulp.(You can also use a nut milk bag but it will stain the bag and your hands because of the turmeric.)

Once the juice has been strained of the pulp, store in a glass jug in the fridge or pour into 12 small 2 oz jars. Make sure to consume the wellness shots within 2 weeks of making.
