Patriotic Cherry Berry Smoothie Bowl

I’m all about a creamy and delicious smoothie bowl on a hot day, and this patriotic cherry berry smoothie bowl definitely hits just right! I love creating festive recipes and this smoothie bowl is perfect to celebrate the 4th of July with! The smoothie is a combination of fruit with a couple veggie snuck in but you can’t even taste them! This smoothie bowl also has about 20 grams of protein and is packed with antioxidants. If you have kids they will certainly appreciate this one!

What you will need

Berries – I like to use a combination of strawberries and raspberries since the are the most red berries. You will want to get frozen ones for the smoothie part and some fresh berries for decorating the smoothie bowl.

Cherries – Like the berries, you will want to get some frozen and fresh ones.

Banana – This recipe will use a little bit of frozen banana to the smoothie, and then make cute little star cut outs to decorate the smoothie bowl.

Frozen Cauliflower – I know this might sound weird but trust me, adding frozen cauliflower rice makes the smoothie so creamy and you can’t taste it at all! You can also use frozen steamed zucchini as well.

Vanilla Protein Powder I use a plant based vanilla protein powder that is made with simple clean ingredients by the brand Truvani. You can substitute with a different brand that you prefer.

Beetroot Powder – This adds more of a red color to the smoothie since we are going for a more patriotic look. You can’t taste it much, but if you absolutely can’t stand beets you can omit.

Coconut Milk – You can use either coconut or almond milk.

DF Yogurt – We will add some plain unsweetened yogurt to the smoothie bowl for a white pop, and then mix some with blue spirulina powder for a blue color pop.

Blue Spirulina Powder This gives the most beautiful blue color and it doesn’t have much of a flavor so it is perfect for mixing in some yogurt to decorate the smoothie bowl.

Coconut Shreds – This adds a white look to the smoothie bowl and looks like celebratory confetti.

Small Star Cut Out – You will want to use a cut out that is small enough to use on banana slices. I use one from this set here.

How to make the patriotic cherry berry smoothie bowl

  1. Add all the frozen fruit, cauli-rice or zucchini, protein powder, beetroot powder, and coconut milk to a blender.
  2. Blend on high until a thick creamy consistency forms(you may have to scrape the sides of the blender a couple times.)
  3. Pour the smoothie mixture into a bowl, and top with the yogurt mixed with blue spirulina powder, some plain yogurt for a white pop, some fresh berries/cherries, and banana slices cut into stars and enjoy!
